Cooks Wharf

Winner of the Aylesbury Vale Design Award (2002).

This self build home was set on the bank of the Grand Union Canal and orientated to maximise solar gain and external views.

Due to the excellent views of the canal and the countryside it was deemed appropriate to locate the living spaces on the first floor, with vast areas of glazing to open up the space and to create a large balcony space from which to enjoy the outdoors.

The use of sliding glass doors on the first floor allows for the entire living space to spill out onto the balcony and create larger space for entertaining.
