Woughton on the Green
The existing building was previously damaged vastly by a fire. The remains of the house were demolished, presumably because it was deemed unsafe, but the existing foundations, basement and the swimming pool excavation remained in the ground.
The design is intended to represent a modern interpretation of the Arts and Crafts style. A varied but limited range of natural materials has been chosen to reflect some of those found in the immediate vicinity and the broader context.
An improved building fabric encompassing high levels of insulation is designed to minimise heat loss as well as a ground source heat pump, underfloor heating and wood burning store all incorporated to maximise eco-credentials.
