Oakbank School

Hinton Cook Architects were appointed to design a new sports hall west of the existing school. Currently a school for special needs children, the school has seen a rapid increase in admissions hence requiring more space for sporting activities.

The initial design concept evolved from mirroring the mono-pitch roof adjacent to the site. With further development, the roof has taken a sinusoidal form lending itself to a modern sports hall.

An intricate steel structure braces the building externally whilst supporting the roof via an exoskeleton. This ensures  maximum internal play area which will contain three badminton courts and a basketball court.
